Barry Fixler, Vietnam Khe Sahn Marine Veteran and Author of the book “Semper Cool” is assisting returning veterans who are coming home severely wounded from Iraq and Afghanistan. Through the sales of his book, Mr. Fixler decided to open the Fixler Foundation and give back to the country. 100% of the money raised from the book is given back to troops through his foundation.

This is Americas book, Fixler said. My experiences in Vietnam are in this book and that makes it sacred to me. It wouldnt be right to make money on it. Fixler has been across the country helping troops and giving back. He has set a goal of raising at least 10 million dollars. He’s helped families offset expenses for caring for their severely wounded warrior.

“Barry was responsible for helping us get our son home and getting our home ready for our son,” said Chris Ryan, father of Sgt Eddie Ryan a Marine Corps Sniper who was shot twice in the head during an attack in Iraq. “Barry, through his foundation got our son home. We will always be grateful.”

In Semper Cool: One Marines Fond Memories of Vietnam, Fixler recounts in vivid detail how the Marine Corps and the horrors of war transformed a mischief-making, well-off Long Island kid into a battle-hardened man and a patriot. Fixler also relives the 2005 shootout in his Bardonia, N.Y., jewelry store that captured national attention. Barry has been seen on 20/20, MSNBC and Imus has said that Barry Fixler is “a great example for everybody on this planet.”
